Officially called the Lachmann Sub, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s MP5 offers a little more complexity than its past iterations, with more attachments available than ever. While even the base MP5 will still drop targets in a split second, the weapon can be made even more deadly if players choose the right attachments for it.

The Best Modern Warfare 2 MP5 Attachments and Builds
Before diving right into the best Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 MP5 attachments and builds, players need to understand exactly how the game’s progression system works. Unlike previous Call of Duty entries, where attachments are unlocked simply by repeatedly leveling up the same weapon, Modern Warfare 2 forces players to use other weapons on the same Platform to unlock all the available attachments. Before players can even start grinding through the MP5’s levels, they’ll first need to get the Lachmann-762 battle rifle to level 13, then the Lachmann-556 assault rifle to level 12. Doing this will finally unlock the Lachmann Sub.
Luckily, by the time players have finally reached the MP5, they’ll have already unlocked a plethora of attachments for it, with the entire Lachmann Platform all sharing the same Modern Warfare 2 attachments. The MP5 reaches max level at 19, and from here, players should be able to make a pretty powerful build with the attachments they’ve got unlocked. For those who want an all-around great MP5 build, suitable for both fast running-and-gunning, and more reserved firefights, the FTAC M-Sub 12" barrel is absolutely necessary. Increasing bullet velocity, damage range, recoil control, and hip fire accuracy, this barrel is a huge improvement to the weapon’s most favorable stats.
From here, players will want to equip the LM Stockless Mod in the stock slot, as this will counteract the aim down sight speed loss of the barrel, while also increasing sprint to fire speed, movement speed, and hip recoil control. The OP-X9 Foregrip is a universally great underbarrel attachment, increasing hip fire accuracy and control, general recoil steadiness, and aim walking steadiness. If players have stuck just to the minimum requirements needed to unlock the Lachmann Sub, then they’ll likely have two muzzles to choose from, both of which are good options. For those wanting the maximum amount of recoil control, the Lockshot KT85 will do the trick. For players looking for increased bullet velocity and sound suppression along with a bit of recoil control and smoothness, the SA Schalldampfer 99 muzzle should work.
The final attachment spot is then up to the individual player. Magazine-wise, the 50 Round Drum ensures that the player is never caught short in a firefight, but it does reduce the weapon’s mobility and handling quite a bit. Using a different ammunition type could give players the edge in an intense one-on-one, with 9mm Hollow Point rounds adding a decent amount of damage. Alternatively, if players prefer optics or lasers on their weapon, then the final attachment slot can be used for those instead. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s MP5’s rear grip offerings aren’t really worth equipping at all.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
